This artwork celebrates one of Bath's most significant architectural achievements, being the first of the great Georgian squares that would define the city's character. Queen Square represents the birth of Bath's transformation from a medieval town into the elegant Georgian city we know today.

Featuring symmetrical Palladian-style townhouses around a central obelisk erected to commemorate Frederick, Prince of Wales. Completed between 1728 and 1735, the square was intended as a unified "palace forecourt". Queen Square remains one of the finest examples of 18th-century town planning in Europe.
