This artwork celebrates the timeless beauty of Bath's Georgian heritage, and Catharine Place represents the Georgian ideal of gracious living, a 1770s Georgian square designed by John Wood the Younger, originally featuring a paved central area for sedan chairs. It was later transformed into a garden surrounded by railings, the metal from which was removed during World War II. The railings were restored and the gardens dedicated to WWII civilian casualties in the 1990s.
